According to CNNIC, there are now 688 millions of Internet users in China, 90% of them on mobile. The penetration is still low at 50%, which translates to great potential for domain name growth.
The "Mass Entrepreneurship And Innovation" and Internet Plus government policies are creating millions of new Internet businesses and they all want to have a domain name for their corporate website.
On top of that, the bulk buying technique introduced by Chinese speculators in 2015 further increases the demand. Some domain industry players are already predicting that domain securitization will become mainstream in China this year. It is already possible to to go, for example, 4.cn and buy shares of a domain name if you cannot afford to buy the whole domain name.
Also, lending on domain is gathering pace too. For example, the .wang registry offers up to 50% loan on some premium domain names. All these innovative ways of investing in domain names will greatly increase sale of domain names in China, propelling it to become the largest marketplace in the world.
