Celebrities and public figures must secure their domain names before they are famous, and here's an example.
Papi Jiang (Papi酱) is a college student, yet within only a few months she has become a sensation in China. Her sharp tongue and quick humor displayed in short videos have earned her millions of fans on the Internet.
Her ability to gather fans is better than many A-list movie stars. Naturally, money and opportunities find her, as she just completed her first round of funding for further projects as well as promotion of her Papi Jiang brand name.
Unfortunately, she does not realize that her sudden fame has created much value in two domain names: PapiJiang.com and PapiJiang.cn. A company in China registered both names right after the funding announcement.
This is a good lesson for any aspiring movie star, singer, or public figure in China. Get your .com and .cn before you become famous. Otherwise it'll be too late to acquire your domain names or you'll have to pay a hefty price for them.
