17. A Summer Day
"A Summer Day," Waterhead. - A hot day spent by, or in, the cool waters of the lake near Brathay Rocks, whence our view is taken, is good for either man or beast. Waterhead is the northern extremity of Windermere, its steamer pier being about a mile from Ambleside, and is sentinelled by some of Lakeland's highest peaks. In Borran's Field, near by, have been excavated some very interesting evidences of Roman occupation.
